Delicious oven baked steak

I created this recipe after a dinner with our friends. We actually baked the steaks but I made some changes and added some herbs and sauce, so now I can tell that it's kind of my recipe.

The steaks turn out to be juicy and tender, so let's begin.

First time I tried paella during my first visit to Spain ( I think I was 14)! And I fell in love with this dish! I remember there was a  little seashore family restaurant. The food there was so good, that my mom and I couldn't stop eating ....  Paella was the dish I ordered almost every night!

Well, I made it my way and it turned out to be pretty good! If you are vegan or just want to make a low calorie dish, this recipe is for you. So, let's get it started!

Easter lamb chops with oven roasted potatoes

And here we go! The fast is over and Easter is here. What can be better than a piece of good meat on your plate?

I found this recipe not so long ago and decided to try it. What I want to say is - buy more lamb (or veal) because it's really difficult to stop eating this delicious, melting in your mouth meat.
I can not describe how good it is...so let's get started!

Bacon-Spinach Quiche

I tried quiche before but I thought...what if I make it as a breakfast omelet?! Yep! You can do it!

Russian Kulich (Eastern Orthodox sweet Easter bread)

Kulich is a tall, cylindrical sweet bread that is served for Easter in Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. It is traditionally paired with paskha, a sort of cheesecake. The two confections are taken to church on Easter Sunday to be blessed by the local priest. Then for the Easter meal, slices of kulich are spread with paskha and eaten. If you don't have a kulich mold, you will need a 2-pound coffee can for this recipe.

Spinach artichoke bake

What a great dip to make when my husband's friends are coming over. It's fast, easy and the best thing to dip your chips in!

Ratatouille with rice

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed and minced
  • 1 large onion, quartered and thinly sliced
  • 1 small eggplant, cubed
  •  3 stalks of asparagus, cut in pieces
  • 2  tomatoes
  • 2 cups of tomato juice
  • 3 to 4 mushrooms
  • 1 teaspoon dried leaf basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried leaf oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried leaf thyme
  • salt, pepper to taste
  • 2 cups of rice + 4 cups of water

Russian crepes! Blini (russian)

  • 1 cup of milk
  • 2 cups of all purpose flour
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tbl spoons or olive oil
  • 1/4 cup of sugar
  • 1 tea spoon of salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon of backing soda with 1/4 teaspoon white vinegar (mixed together)
  • Butter

Delicious tarts

Oh well, I had 5 small tart shells, a couple of strawberries, blueberries and a couple of slices of pineapple. 200 ml of cream cheese and 2 tbl spoons of sugar.

Russian vinaigrette salad


  • 5 potatoes
  • 1 beetroot
  • 2 carrots
  • 1-2 pickled cucumber
  • 1 can of canned peas
  • 4-5 tbsp. shredded sauerkraut
  • 2 tbsp. 3 % vinegar
  • 1 medium-size onion
  • 4 tbsp. olive oil
  • salt to taste

Vitamin smoothie for breakfast

Well, My husband and I are fasting. So since now and for the next 7 weeks there will be no meat, eggs, milk or butter.

So! Super breakfast!

Vegetarian cabbage rolls

I love cabbage rolls, in Russia we call them Golubtsi.

I Always thought that it was a Russian or Ukrainian dish but when I came to Canada I found out that Canadians are familiar with cabbage rolls...The name is different but the ingredients and methods are the same.

Who doesn't like a good bowl of Italian minestrone?!

Well, I would never say no to that!

Russian Plov (Pilaf)

We call this dish Plov, originally this is Uzbek dish, Uzbekistan is one of the former USSR republics and they cook amazing stuff!!! Originally you are supposed to use lamb in the recipe but I was too lazy to go to the store and buy lamb, so I made it with pork (turned out really good).

Simply delicious eggplant

What I had:
  • 1 eggplant
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 1 bell pepper
  • 1 small onion
  • 1 garlic clove
  • some all-purpose flour
  • salt, pepper
  • dry parsley

Delish salad with Tofu cheese

Well, I'm making this salad not for the first time...I usually make it with Feta cheese but however, we are fasting and it means no diary products. So, I decided to experiment with Tofu. It turned out great by the way.

It's a really good vegetarian dish! We loved it!

Irish cabbage with mushrooms

I couldn't resist and found one Irish recipe.

The original recipe contained bacon, so I decoded to replace it with mushrooms!

Mushroom and Potato casserole

Ingredients:
  • 4 medium potatoes
  • 1 onion
  • 2 tablespoons of all purpose flour
  • 8 white mushrooms
  • 2 pickles (not necessary)
  • salt, pepper

"Zucchini cutlets" is a really Russian dish, so let's try to make it and if anybody tries to cook it, please send all your comments here. I'll be glad to answer any question.

Beef stew alla Mila

  • 2 lb (1 kg) stewing beef cubes
  • 3-4 potatoes, peeled and cut
  • 3 carrots, cut
  • 2 onions, chopped
  • 2 cups (500 ml) beef stock
  • 2 sticks celery, chopped
  • 6 - 7 mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 cup frozen peas (250ml)
  • 1 can (156 ml) tomato paste
  • 2 tsp (10 ml) Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1/2 cup of red wine
  • 1 tbs rosemary
  • salt, pepper to taste
